Turner Violates Election Law in OH-3

Congressman Mike Turner made repeated trips into the polling place in Dayton, Ohio (Montgomery County Board of Elections) today, in violation of voting regulations.

After several trips, individuals began photographing Congressman Turner, and the Mitakides for Congress campaign notified the Board of Elections.

Additonally, his representatives told voters he was "endorsed by Barack Obama" and was "the Democratic candidate."  Eventually, a lawyer was summoned to stop the deceit.

The crowd was heavily Democratic -- voting has been 15-to-1 declared Dems over GOP -- and Turner's attempts to intimidate and confuse voters are just the latest of the GOP's "steal Ohio" tactics.

OH-3 Declared "Potential Upset"

Maybe those folks at Fox News really are fair and balanced!  They've declared OH-3 a "potential for upset," citing the strong Dem performance in early turnout and the fact that OH-3 includes urban Dayton, Ohio.

Mitakides and Turner have squared off before, but the game has seriously changed.  The Obama ground game is the best anybody has ever seen, and Turner is now on CREW's list of "Most Corrupt Members of Congress."  Strickland carried the district and so did Obama, so there's a real chance here.  Plus, she's got the name recognition now, especially after winning a three-way primary.  Who could have guessed Fox News would be the first to call it?

Turner has outraised Mitakides (you can contribute to jane at www.jane08.com), but the combination of issues, Dem performance and her strong TV and field keep the race more than competitive.

Great News in OH-2

The defeat of Pat Dewine and the other big-name uber-conservatives in OH-2 is nothing but good news for Dems.  Paul Hackett is the real deal, a great speaker with a strong bio that will appeal in this district.  He won't be running against a high-name recognition R, or even one considered a front-runner when this started.

This is a real chance to add another special election win to the list that includes Herseth and Chandler.

He's put together a good campaign, and is a standout candidate.  You'd have to see him speak to a crowd to know how good he really is.

This is an Aug 2 race, when turnout will be low and opportunities will be high.  He's got message, now he needs money and people to work a field plan of neighborhood walks and pursuasion.

Help this race every way you can.  It will be a great way to jump-start the fabulous Strickland for governor opportunity in Ohio.

Don't believe the naysayers.  In Ohio, the times, they are a 'changing.
